Preparing your Holiday Caravan ready for Summer

Farewell to the cold and damp, and welcome warmth and sunshine! As spring arrives, many of you are preparing to open your Caravans and Lodges for the first time this year. In this segment, you’ll find some helpful tips to ensure your treasured getaway is in top shape when you need it most.

  • Inspect the Exterior of Your Caravan or Lodge
Over the winter months, your holiday unit may have encountered harsh weather conditions. A quick visual inspection of the exterior is essential, focusing on the TV aerials, roofing, gutters, and fencing, all of which can be compromised by strong winds. Additionally, consider giving the exterior a wash to remove the sand and moss that can accumulate during winter, leaving your holiday unit looking bright and clean.
  • Ensure Fire and Carbon Monoxide Alarms are Functional
Batteries can eventually drain, so after a few months away from your Caravan or Lodge, it’s crucial to check that the batteries in your safety devices are still fully operational.

  • Spring Clean and Freshen the Air
Your Caravan or Lodge has likely been closed up for several months, leading to stale air inside. Open the windows for ventilation, and while the air is circulating, engage in a spring cleaning session to make your space feel rejuvenated.
  • Inspect Water Systems
If you winterized your caravan or lodge yourself, it’s essential to check for leaks in your water system. Freezing temperatures during winter can cause water left in the pipes to burst. When you turn on the water supply, keep an eye out for any leaks, as they can lead to significant water damage.
